New web-based tool improves accuracy of prospectus disclosure while reducing shareholder costs
New York, NY September 23, 2005 - Command Financial Press announced today it has been selected by MFS Investment Management® to provide a web-based solution for content management for the company’s mutual fund prospectuses.
Jim Penders, President of Command Financial Press commented, "We are extremely pleased to have been selected by MFS. We are finding that mutual fund complexes and insurance companies that offer variable products are really focused on finding new tools that help them maintain the accuracy and integrity of prospectus disclosure in a cost-effective manner. CAPS leverages state-of-the-art technology to allow them to do this. CAPS was developed from an end-user perspective over a 2 ½ year period and at a cost of several million dollars. Essentially, it empowers clients to manage, assemble, and update information that is used in multiple or recurrent documents. Although the printing process and printed documents are a part of our services to the investment company industry, a larger part of the value that we bring to our clients lies in designing and building tools and innovative services such as CAPS that help create accurate documents faster and more economically." Chris Murphy, Vice President of Investment Company Services for Command is the ‘40 Act attorney who headed up the development effort at Command. Ms. Murphy added: "CAPS gives investment companies the ability to create secure virtual libraries that store shared language and data that can be accessed by authorized users for reuse in multiple documents. It creates an environment in which authorized workgroup members can make edits using Microsoft Word, as well as offer comments and suggestions. Members of the workgroup who are authorized to approve language can "push" language out to multiple appropriate funds, eliminating the need for multiple redrafts. CAPS addresses all areas of prospectus creation and revision on an ongoing basis. This improves efficiencies and accuracy, paramount concerns in this age of Sarbanes Oxley." CAPS was also designed to maintain an audit trail of changes, recording the who/what/when as well as authorization and comments of the entire editing process. Document proofs are generated in either Word or PDF formats, including blackline comparisons.
Using leading edge technology such as IXIASOFT’s TEXTML Server, a native XML database, as well as Microsoft Word as an editing tool, CAPS users can repurpose language from existing content to dynamically generate documents on the fly or update multiple existing documents efficiently and in a secure repository.
