Command Financial Press has announced the launching of a formal initiative to obtain ISO 9001:2000 certification as part of its ongoing commitment to quality, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction. Command, one of the Country’s largest independent financial printers, offers the latest in fully integrated, technology-based solutions and personalized service related to document lifecycle management.
Jim Penders, Command’s President and CEO remarked: “More than a year ago we began a voluntary process of self assessment and gap-analysis as the first step in developing an integrated Security Management System. At that time we formed a steering committee to guide our Quality Program that included representation from all of our various departments. We also learned a great deal from our sister companies in the Command Family of Companies who handle our print production and have previously achieved and retain ISO certification.” Remarked Stephen Penders, EVP: “Command has long prided itself on the quality of its management systems and in particular those devoted to assuring the security and integrity of the information entrusted to us. We have focused these efforts on continuously improving controls on access to data, accuracy, data integrity, confidentiality, reporting, storage, data back-up and recovery systems. Our ISO inititive, which will expand this effort into all of our operations, is an ideal next step for us.” “Command will be the first financial printer to achieve ISO 9001:2000 certification in the US for its financial printing services,” according to Bob Buckholz, Vice President of Operations at Command, who added that the highly structured process and discipline will involve every employee, every process, and every client touch point. “We look forward to engaging the formal ISO process and to the many benefits it conveys with respect to improvement in the quality of the products and services we offer our clients.”

About ISO—International Organization for Standards
ISO is a network of the national standards institutes of 157 countries, on the basis of one member per country, with a Central Secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland, that coordinates the system.
ISO is a non-governmental organization: its members are not, as is the case in the United Nations system, delegations of national governments. Nevertheless, ISO occupies a special position between the public and private sectors. This is because, on the one hand, many of its member institutes are part of the governmental structure of their countries, or are mandated by their government. On the other hand, other members have their roots uniquely in the private sector, having been set up by national partnerships of industry associations.
Therefore, ISO is able to act as a bridging organization in which a consensus can be reached on solutions that meet both the requirements of business and the broader needs of society, such as the needs of stakeholder groups like consumers and users.
