Legg Mason Selects
Command Automated Publishing System (CAPS)
for Content Management
Web-based content and data management tool improves accuracy of prospectus disclosure while reducing shareholder costs
New York, NY April 23, 2008 – Command Financial Press announced today it has been selected by Legg Mason to provide a web-based solution for content management related to their mutual fund prospectuses. After evaluating a number of software applications, Legg Mason, a leading global asset management firm that serves the institutional, mutual fund and wealth management markets, selected the Command Automated Publishing System (CAPS) as a tool to help them manage content across a wide range of their proprietary mutual fund prospectuses.
James Penders, President of Command Financial commented, “We are extremely pleased that Legg Mason has chosen CAPS for their content management of their prospectuses. We continue to develop new functionality and enhancements that enable our clients to better manage their content and data. We’re also very excited to be in the process of creating an integration module that will provide a total solution for prospectuses, shareholder reports, and other documents including the summary prospectuses that may very well come to fruition in the near future.” Chris Carr, Vice President of Investment Company Services for Command is the ’40 Act attorney who heads up the development effort at Command for prospectus automation. Ms. Carr stated: “CAPS gives investment companies the ability to create secure virtual libraries that store shared language and data that can be accessed by authorized users for reuse in multiple documents. This improves efficiencies and accuracy, paramount concerns in this age of Sarbanes-Oxley.”
CAPS was also designed to maintain an audit trail of changes, recording the who/what/when as well as authorization of and comments on the entire editing process. Document proofs are generated in either Word or PDF formats, including blackline comparisons. Using leading edge technology such as a native XML database, as well as Microsoft Word as an editing tool, CAPS users can repurpose language from existing content dynamically to generate documents on the fly or simultaneously update multiple existing documents efficiently and in a secure repository.
